this was my first time teaching at the bead & button show in milwaukee, wisconsin.
i have never seen so many beads in one place…simply amazing.
i had some very talented students who made some beautiful jewelry…just a few examples are shown below.
and there was lots of fun to be had visiting with fellow teaching artists.

shadow cowboy

i have been having fun taking photos of my shadow in and around Santa Fe…and a few while on the road at various teaching venues. one interesting aspect of the series is that the shadows are different everyday, at different times of the day and different seasons of the year. i stay on the lookout for interesting new places to snap my shadow…with 300 plus days of sun in New Mexico, my shadow almost always is there when i find an interesting location, and always willing to pose. i’ll continue to post new images as the series continues. all of the photos have been taken with an iPhone 3gs…i now have a reason to upgrade to the sharper iPhone4!

farmer’s market…

Santa Fe has wonderful Farmer’s Market that is open year round every Tuesday and Saturday. It’s a great place to get locally produced organic fresh vegetables as well as meats from sustainable farms in the area.

i have been working on class samples for the upcoming workshop at the Hacienda Mosaico in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The pieces shown here all incorporate a recycled, repourposed watchcase as the focal element. The piece on the far left is a locket with enamel on copper inside the watchcase with a handmade chain of iron wire. The one in the center is also a hinged locket with the watch mechanism encased in ICE Resin. The pendant on the right holds an etched copper disc inside the watchcase. The examples on the left and right have Faux Bone backs, while the center piece has a jar lid backing.
